Our location at the foot of the Massanutten mountain provides us with water year round, however, increasingly frequent drought conditions have made us aware of the importance of water management.
  • DRIP IRRIGATION: In our perennial beds we have always used a drip tape irrigation system to deliver water directly in the ground to reduce fungal problems on our crop and unnecessary water evaporation.

  • MULCHING: Most of our long term crops have a layer of organic mulch on top of the drip tape to help maintain moisture in the soil. This mulch can later be worked into the soil to increase organic matter.

  • SCHEDULING: Our watering schedule takes into consideration the amount of water available along with the specific needs of the plants and the time of day.
