Recipes and Tips

Here are just a few tips and recipes for using fresh Lemon Basil. You can find many more recipes on our recipes page.

Quick Tips:

  • The perfect garnish for citrusy sweets.
Lemon basil tastes as gorgeous as it looks when perched atop a scoop of store-bought lemon ice cream or sorbet.
  • When life gives you lemons, make lemon basil lemonade.
Just combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water and heat until sugar is dissolved. Add 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, 3 cups of water, and ¼ cup of lemon basil leaves. Serve over ice.
  • Give lemony-fresh flair to white rice.
Add 2 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon of lemon zest, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ¼ cup of chopped lemon basil to 2 cups of cooked white rice.

Lemon basil is a special summer item for us. If you are close to a Whole Foods, Meijer or a Shop Rite store, you should be able to find some plants. Please let us, and others, know where you find the plants! Thanks.
