Mint Chocolate Napoleons

These delectable dessert pastries are made simple with store-bought puff pastry dough.  Pairing rich chocolate, fresh mint, and luscious whipped cream, napoleons are perfect with a cup of coffee or an after dinner aperitif.  Top them with edible flowers to make them as gorgeous as they are delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, rolled out to 10×13 rectangle
  • ¼ cup cinnamon sugar (equal amounts of each)
  • 8 ounce heavy whipping cream
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup mint, leaves only
  • ½ cup chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 package edible flowers
  • Confectioners Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Score puff pastry sheet into 3 strips lengthwise.
  3. Cut each strip again into 6 squares.
  4. Place individual squares on parchment paper, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake 15 minutes. Cool slightly.
  5. Whip cream.
  6. On each serving plate, place one puff pastry square and top with 1 tablespoon whipped cream.
  7. Sprinkle with a few chocolate chips & 3 mint leaves.
  8. Layer again 2 more times.
  9. Drizzle melted chocolate over each napoleon, dust with confectioners sugar and top with 1 mint leaf and edible flowers.
  10. Serve immediately.

Quick Notes

A Cabernet Sauvignon will bring out the chocolate richness but not overpower the mint.

This recipe is really delicious. Material on this website is well presented–so much better than some of the recipes on the food network websites. Thanks so much. Makes me want to use herbs much more often.
